Der Sheriff kommt / The sheriff comes

Da kommen sie / There they are

One last time we moved the horses to a new pasture, this time with the snow mobile. In February we will start feeding hay. The horses would survive without but they already have to work pretty hard to paw through the snow to find grass. But: Their hooves look great, the horses stay fit and there is no time for boredom. Was nice again to see them cantering across the field ...

Recently, Nick, his mom JoAnn and I drove to a library fund raiser in Sundance. Special guest was Wyoming writer Craig Johnson who has become famous for his crime novels about Sheriff Longmire who solves murder cases in the Bighorn Mountains. A TV show has been made as well. Johnson is a born entertainer - also in front of an audience - and the hours just flew by.

The day after was the coldest I have experienced in Wyoming. The temps were down to a felt minus 30 Fahrenheit / minus 35 Celsius - during the day ... a strong wind was blowing ... it was really painful to be outside. We had to feed the horses and livestock, of course since that keeps them warm. But at night when I was laying in bed I felt sorry for the critters who could not.
