Ein perfekter Sonntag / A perfect Sunday

So, ab heute wird wieder regelmaessig geblogt. Freitag habe ich Andy vom Flughafen abgeholt, die uns in den naechsten drei Monaten helfen wird. Am Samstag waren Brandy, Andy und ich auf einem Babyshower, wo Freundinnen, Nachbarinnen und weibliche Verwandte der werdenden Mutter (Connie) Nuetzliches und Schoenes fuers Baby schenken. Connies Schwiegereltern zuechten und trainieren Cutting- und Reining-Pferde (Connie selbst reitet Vielseitigkeit, ihr Mann JD Cowhorse). Andy hat dann gleich mal ein paar Pferdchen ausprobiert.

So, from today on I will blog regularly again. Friday I picked Andy up from the airport who will help us for the next three months. On Saturday Brandy, Andy and I went to a babyshower where girlfriends, female neighbors and relatives bring useful and beautiful baby gifts for the mother-to-be (Connie). Connie's parents-in-law breed and train cutting and reining horses (Connie herself does eventing, her husband JD does cowhorse). Andy tried out a few of their horses.

Am Sonntag sind Andy, Gary (unser Schreiner) und ich reiten gegangen. Ich hatte Tramp ausgewaehlt, der auch nach sechs Monaten Reitpause nicht aus der Ruhe zu bringen war. Andy ritt Lady, unsere Rennstute, Gary ritt Grover. Auf dem Foto seht Ihr die Beiden. Unten seht Ihr Eric, unseren neuen Wrangler. Er ist gelernter Schmied und hat heute mal eben 10 Pferde getrimmt. Offiziell faengt er aber erst naechstes Wochenende hier an und wird zwei Pferde und seinen Hund Buddy mitbringen. Mehr zu ihm also in einer Woche. Mike, unser Wrangler vom letzten Jahr, kam auch auf Besuch und zeigte uns seine selbstgemachten Sporen. Ein herrlicher Tag mit viel Sonne ... aber jetzt muessen wir fuer unsere Truthahnjaeger Bob und Tyler kochen, die heute ihren ersten von zwei Voegeln geschossen haben (s. Foto). Brandy, Brandon und JoAnn besuchen ein Sinfoniekonzert. Emmett hilft Andy und mir in der Kueche ;-)

On Sunday Andy, Gary (our carpenter) and I went riding. I took Tramp who was totally cool even though he had not been ridden in six months. Andy rode Lady (our racing mare), Gary rode Grover. On the photo you can see the two of them. On the photo below you see Eric, our new wrangler. He is a trained farrier and trimmed 10 horses today, just like that. Officially he won't start his job here till next weekend. He will bring two horses and his dog Buddy along. More about him next week. Mike, last year's wrangler came to visit as well and showed us his self-made spurs. A beautiful day with lots of sun ... but now we have to cook for our turkey hunters Bob and Tyler who shot the first of two birds today (s. photo). Brandy, Brandon and JoAnn are gone to a symphonic concert. Emmett is helping Andy and me in the kitchen ;-)
