Pinkerton ist ein huebscher, sehr zutraulicher und ruhiger Schimmel. Auf diesem Foto begruesst er gerade Patch. Da er bisher eingedeckt war, koennen wir die Decke bei diesen Temperaturen nicht so einfach abnehmen. Tagsueber (s. Foto unten) nehmen wir sie ab, abends kommt sie wieder rauf. In ein paar Tagen werden wir ihn reiten. Ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, dass ihn allzu viel aus der Ruhe bringen koennte.
Pinkerton is a pretty, very trusting and calm gray. On this photo he says hi to Patch. Since he was blanketed before, we cannot just take the blanket off in these temperatures. During the day we remove it (photo below), at night we put it on again. In a few days we want to ride him. I cannot imagine that there is a lot that would spook him.
Der Name Pinkerton geht auf die von Allan Pinkerton 1850 gegruendete "Pinkerton National Detective Agency" zurueck, eine private Sicherheitstruppe, die zu bestimmten Zeiten mehr Mitarbeiter hatte als die amerikanische Armee. Die Pinkertons waren umstritten, z.B. weil sie als Streikbrecher eingesetzt wurden. Im Westen kennt man sie als Verfolger von Jesse James, der Reno Gang und der Wild Bunch (mit Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid).
The name Pinkerton goes back to the "Pinkerton National Detective Agency" which was founded by Allan Pinkerton in 1850. At times the private security agency had more employees than there were members in the standing army of the USA. The Pinkertons were controversial, i.e. because they worked as strike breakers. In the West they helped tracking Jesse James, the Reno Gang and The Wild Bunch (with Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid).
