Tav auf/on Leftie |
Heike mit/with Indy |
Beautiful weather ... right for a trail ride. Tav on our biggest horse, Leftie, Heike on our smallest horse, Indy, and I on one the size in between, Stella ... who would have bit and kicked the geldings all day if I had let her. We did not get as far as we wanted since our horses got stuck in the snow over and over again. On the photo below you see Heike who is standing on the snow while Indy sank in. In some spots the snow was so deep, we could not ride there or our horses started to jump really hard to get out. I will be glad when the snow melts which probably won't happen before mid/end of April and then it's gonna be muddy. Just on top of the cliffs (s. top photo) the wind blows the snow away.
In the evening, Brandy, Brandon and Emmett invited Nick, Heike, Tav and me for supper. When we left the house, we heard quite a few coyotes howl. The hard winter helps them. While they like our dogs can move well on the snow due to big and soft paws, the deer sink into the snow with their small sharp hooves ... during the ride we found the remains of several deer.
