Vor dem grossen Fressgelage (mit Suesskartoffeln, Cranberry Relish, Squash und Kuerbis-Torte) waren wir Frauen reiten. Nick sass auf seinem Traktor, um die Baustelle fuer die neue Heuscheune vorzubereiten (kein Mitleid, er liebt solche Arbeit), Brandon und Emmett haben Football geschaut, Tom (unser Jagdfuehrer), Theron (Helens Mann), Cody (Helens und Therons Sohn und Chelseys Freund) und Curt (Helens und Therons Sohn) waren jagen, und JoAnn und Buzz (ihr Freund) haben relaxt.
Nick prefered to sit on his tractor to prepare the construction site for his new hay barn (no pity, he loves this kind of work), Brandon and Emmett watched football. Tom (our hunting guide), Theron (Helen's husband), Cody (Helen's and Theron's son and Chelsey's boyfriend) and Curt (Helen's and Theron's son) were hunting and JoAnn and Buzz (her boyfrind) just relaxed.

Die frisch von England eingewanderten Puritaner feierten es mit den ansaessigen Indianern, ohne deren Hilfe sie den Winter nicht ueberlebt haetten. Heute ist Thanksgiving das groesste Familienfest in den USA. Und am Tag danach, dem so genannten "Schwarzen Freitag", werden die Preise im Einzelhandel drastisch gesenkt. Gut, dass wir heute nicht in die Stadt fahren ...
Thanksgiving cannot be compared to European harvest festivals. The Americans attribute it to a three day celebration in the fall of 1621. The newly arrived Puritans celebrated it with local Indians without whom they would not have survived the winter. Today Thanksgiving is the biggest family holiday in the US. And the day after - "Black Friday" - retail stores all over the country lower their prices significantly. Good that we aren't going to town today ...
