Nach dem grossen Regen / After the big rain

Drei Tage und drei Naechte Regen haben geschafft, was der gesamte Schnee des Winters nicht geschafft hat: Unser See, den wir im vergangenen Jahr entleeren mussten, ist wieder voll (Foto s.u.). Und eine Heuernte werden wir wahrscheinlich auch haben. Wyoming strahlt in satten Farben, und man kann dem Gras beim Wachsen zuschauen.

Three days and three nights of rain managed to do what all the snow of this winter had not managed to do: Our lake, which we had to empty out last year, is full again (s. photo below). And we will probably have a hay crop as well. Wyoming is shining in saturated colors and one can see the grass grow.

Seit Samstag sind neben Christine und Doris aus Oesterreich auch Denise und ihre Mutter Erika aus der Schweiz, Dirk und Michael aus Dortmund, Hans und Alja aus Tirol und Ken von der Insel Nantucket dabei. Denise war bereits 2012 hier, Dirk und Michael 2011. Dagmar, Stefan und Lena sind mittlerweile wieder in Deutschland. Lisa und Alexander, der seiner Freundin hier einen Heiratsantrag gemacht hat, bereisen den Westen der USA. Und Ron, Dennis und Randall erholen sich in Missouri von den Strapazen ihres New Haven-Urlaubs ;-)

Last Saturday Denise and her mother Erika from Switzerland, Dirk and Michael from Dortmund (Germany), Hans and Alja from Tirol (Austria) and Ken from the island of Nantucket joined Christine and Doris from Austria on the ranch. Denise had been here before (2012) as well as Dirk and Michael (2011). Dagmar, Stefan and Lena are back in Germany. Lisa and Alexander, who proposed to his girlfriend here in New Haven, are traveling the American West. And Ron, Dennis and Randall are back in Missouri where the recover from the hardships of a New Haven vacation ;-)

Unsere Rinder geniessen das Fruehlingsgras. Nick plant unser erstes Branding. Und den Kaelbern Oreo und Maybelline geht es bestens.

Anbei noch ein paar Fotos vom September. Morgen oder uebermorgen kommen dann noch ein paar vom Oktober (mit Heike, Laura, Theresa, Marie, Elisabeth und Andrea), wo wir fleissig Rinder und Schafe verladen haben. Mittlerweile ist auch das Wetter wieder schoen, wenn auch kuehl. Tav und Sandra frieren sich was ab, aber mir gefaellt es so bestens. Traurige Nachricht: Leider hat ein Hund (nein, nicht Gauge oder Penny) unseren weissen Ziegenbock getoetet ... nun weiss ich nicht, was ich mit dem braunen Zicklein tun soll ...

Attached a few photos from September. Tomorrow or the day after there will be some from October (with Heike, Laura, Theresa, Marie, Elisabeth and Andrea) where we are shipping cattle and sheep. The weather is nice again even if cool. Tav and Sandra are freezing but I love it this way. Sad news: A dog (no, not Gauge or Penny) has killed our white goat buck ... now I don't know what to do with the little brown goat ...
