Immer wieder bekomme ich "Beschwerden", dass ich im Blog nicht alles schreibe, was hier so passiert. Ich weiss, dass es in Zeiten von Facebook und Twitter keine Geheimnisse mehr gibt, aber obwohl auch ich hin und wieder Klatsch geniesse, gehoeren eben einige Dinge nicht hierher. Ich plane allerdings, irgendwann mal einen Enthuellungsroman zu schreiben - Material gibt es mehr als genug - aber selbstverstaendlich mit geaenderten Namen: Aehnlichkeiten mit realen Personen waeren natuerlich rein zufaellig :-)

Again and again I get "complaints" about not mentioning everything that's happening on the ranch. I know that in times of Facebook and Twitter there are no secrets anymore but even though I enjoy some gossip myself once in a while, some things should not be mentioned in this blog. I am planning to some time in the future write a juicy novel - there is plenty of material - but with changed names: Similarities with real people would of course be pure accident ;-)

Diese Woche sind Pam, Diane, Cher und Kathy aus Florida zu Besuch, ausserdem Pia aus Finnland (die aber in Saudiarabien arbeitet), Sonja (Viele Gruesse an Sandra!) und Cristin (Wiederholungstaeter) aus Deutschland und natuerlich noch Anja. Heute morgen waren wir bei unserem Nachbarn Jim-Bob, um seine Bueffelherde zu sehen. Danach ging es zu unseren Amishen Nachbarn, um Zaumzeug zu kaufen. Und gleich werden wir uns trotz der Hitze wieder in den Sattel schwingen.

This week Pam, Diane, Cher and Kathy from Florida are here, also Pia from Finland (who works in Saudi Arabia), Sonja (Greetings to Sandra!) and Cristin (repeater) from Germany and Anja, of course. This morning we visited our neighbor Jim-Bob to watch his buffalo herd. After that we drove over to our Amish neighbors to buy some tack. And despite the heat we'll swing ouselves into the saddle again soon.

Am Wochenende beginnt die Motorrad-Ralley in Sturgis. Dann kommt es sogar in Wyoming mal zu Verkehrsstaus.

This weekend the Sturgis motorcycle rally is going to begin. Then even Wyoming experiences a few traffic jams here and there.

Keine Chance fuer Langeweile / No chance for boredom

Was fuer eine Woche: Am Mittwoch haben wir uns gefreut, dass Romina kam. Und heute haben wir geheult, als Antje gehen musste. Rita hat sich wieder eingelebt, dafuer ist Tav weg. Der neue Wrangler kommt in etwa zwei Wochen. So schnell kann es gehen ...

What a week: On Wednesday we were happy about Romina's arrival. And today we all cried when Antje left. Rita is getting used to living in Wyoming again but Tav is gone. The new wrangler will arrive in about two weeks. Sometimes things happen fast ...

Lisa und Kat sind zum Glueck noch da. Und Anja, die an ihre eine Woche Urlaub ganz spontan noch eine zweite Woche dran haengt. Manfred und Karin aus Bayern, Bashar und Eva aus Oesterreich und Torsten und Susann aus der Schweiz mussten heute leider wieder abreisen. Wir hatten viel Spass, zuletzt gestern abend beim Rodeo in Deadwood.

Fortunately, Lisa and Kat are still here. As well as Anja who spontaneously added another week to her vacation. Unfortunately, Manfred and Karin from Bavaria, Bashar and Eva from Austria and Torsten and Susann from Switzerland had to leave today. We had a lot of fun, last at the rodeo in Deadwood yesterday evening.

Hannah (das Lamm) und Buddy (das Kitz) sind die besten Freunde. KC hat sich verletzt und leistet Buster Gesellschaft, den wir bald wieder in die Freiheit entlassen werden. Die beiden kleinen Katerchen haben die Ranch fest im Griff. Und dann sind da noch unzaehlige Rinder, die sich nicht an die Regeln halten und staendig ueber Zaeune springen. Unsere Reiter hatten viel zu tun. Eva, da Du nicht mitgeritten bist, habe ich leider kein Foto von Dir ... sorry!

Hannah (the lamb) and Buddy (the fawn) are best friends. KC got hurt and is spending time with Buster in the corral. Buster will soon be able to go on pasture again. The two little tom cats are ruling the ranch. And then there are many steers who won't live by the rules and jump fences all the time. Our riders are pretty busy. Eva, since you did not ride, I don't have a photo of you ... sorry!

Heike hatte einen weiteren Unfall. Ihr Pferd trat nach ihr, d.h. eigentlich nach dem unheimlichen Lamm in ihren Armen, aber den Tritt bekam Heike ab. Unkraut vergeht nicht ... zum Glueck ;-)

Heike had another accident. Her horse kicked her, well it aimed at the scary lamb in her arms but hit Heike instead. Bad weeds grow tall ... luckily ;-)

Ich traeume vom norddeutschen Schmuddelwetter ... waehrend es hier in Wyoming weiter heiss und trocken ist.

I am dreaming of Northern German weather which is usually cool, wet and stormy ... while it is still very hot and dry here in Wyoming.

Vor ein paar Tagen zog ein ungeheures Gewitter durch die Gegend ... doch nach ein paar Stunden war alles wieder trocken. Nur zahlreiche umgefallene Baeume zeugen noch von der Naturgewalt.

A few days ago a tremendous thunder storm moved through the area ... but after a few hours everything was dry again. The only signs left of nature's power are a bunch of fallen trees.

Heute sind sieben neue Gaeste angereist: Bashir und Eva aus Oesterreich, Torsten und Susan aus der Schweiz sowie Manfred, Karin und Anja aus Deutschland. Und Rita haben wir auch wieder.

Today seven new guests arrived: Bashir and Eva from Austria, Torsten and Susan from Switzerland as well as Manfred, Karin and Anja from Germany. And we have Rita back.

Wir reiten oft frueh oder spaet, um der groessten Hitze des Tages zu entgehen. Vergangene Woche standen wieder Brandings, Dockings und viele Viehtriebe an. Die Britchicks (Lisa, Terry, Denise, Emma und Ruth) sowie Tine, Sabine und Eva sind wieder in Europa. Dafuer sind jetzt Silvia und John aus New York und Claire aus Chicago gekommen. Und auch Kat ist wieder dabei.

Most days we are riding early or late to avoid the biggest heat of the day. Last week there were brandings, dockings and many livestock moves on the agenda again. The Brit Chicks (Lisa, Terry, Denise, Emma and Ruth) as well as Tine, Sabine and Eva are back in Europe. Instead Silvia and John from New York and Claire from Chicago arrived. And Kat is back again, too.

Kitz Buddy hat Gesellschaft bekommen: Waisenlamm Hannah (Foto siehe unten). Am Wochenende waren wir auf dem Rodeo in Sheridan mit den einmaligen Indianischen Staffelrennen. Wir waren irgendwie alle zu aufgeregt, um Fotos zu machen, aber schaut einfach mal im Blog-Archiv nach (Mitte Juli 2011). Vergangenes Jahr haben zumindest einige ans Fotografieren gedacht ;-)

Fawn Buddy has company: orphan lamb Hannah (see photo below). On the weekend we went to the rodeo in Sheridan with its unique Indian Relay Races. Somehow we were all too excited to take photos but have a look at last year's blog (mid July). That time some people were smart enough to take pics ;-)

Waehrend unsere zumeist europaeischen Gaeste das heisse trockene Wetter hier geniessen, wartet ein grosser Teil der USA auf Regen, der einfach nicht kommen will. Wer in, mit und von der Natur lebt, wird mal wieder daran erinnert, wer am laengeren Hebel sitzt ... und das ist nicht der Mensch.

While our mostly European guests enjoy the hot and dry weather here, most of the US is waiting for rain which is not going to come. When you live in, with and off nature, you are reminded again of who is in charge ... and it's not us humans.
