Nur ganz schnell ein Eintrag, um Melissas Eltern wissen zu lassen, dass ihre Tochter heil angekommen ist und so viel Zeit wie moeglich im Sattel verbringt. Heute Morgen haben wir Rinder in der Praerie sortiert. Heute Nachmittag mussten wir unsere entlaufenen Rinder von Nachbars Weide holen. Gleich gehts in die Ponderosa Bar in Hulett zum Essen. Sonja ist weg :-( Und morgen verlaesst uns leider auch Lisa ... *schluchz*

Just a short post to let Melissa's parents know that their daughter arrived and is spending as much time in the saddle as possible. This morning we sorted cattle in the prairie. This afternoon we had to move our stray cattle back home from a neighbor's pasture. And now we'll go to the Ponderosa Bar in Hulett for supper. Sonja is gone :-( And tomorrow Lisa is leaving us, too ... *cry*

Uebrigens: Frost ist nicht geschlagen worden (er laeuft nur noch auf drei Beinen), sondern er hat "nur" ein Hufgeschwuer. Zum Glueck!

By the way: Frost wasn't kicked (he is walking on three legs) but "only" has a hoof absess. He's lucky!

Verlorene Rinder suchen / Looking for stray cattle

Ein langer Tag, aber die fuenf Bullen sind gefunden. /
A long day but the five bulls are found.

Habe mich heute tatsaechlich mal wieder aufs Pferd (Bruno) geschwungen. Wir mussten verloren gegangene Rinder auf Nachbars Weiden suchen ... leider vergeblich. Dafuer haben Team und Gaeste vergangene Woche einem Nachbarn geholfen, fuenf Bullen zu finden - der Ritt dauerte den ganzen Tag. Da trennt sich die Spreu vom Weizen ... reittechnisch gesehen. Alle haben durchgehalten. Kompliment!

Swung myself onto a horse (Bruno) again today. We had to look for stray cattle on a neighbor's pastures ... in vain. Last week the team and the guests helped another neighbor find five bulls - they rode all day long. A ride that separated the wheat from the chaff ... as far as riding skills go. Everyone made it. Congratulations! 

Lisas letzte Woche auf New Haven ist angebrochen. Wir sind schon jetzt traurig. Wer wird sich um Buddy und Hannah kuemmern? Wieder als Gaeste dabei: Carola und Klaus, die dieses Jahr Carolas Bruder Ralf mitgebracht haben. Frank, Susann und Ryan sind am Samstag gefahren, Sonja wird uns am Mittwoch verlassen ... Sch ... ade!

This is Lisa's last week on New Haven. We are so sad. Who will take care of Buddy and Hannah? They have come back: Carola and Klaus who brought Carola's brother Ralf along this year. Frank, Susann and Ryan left on Saturday, Sonja will leave on Wednesday ... sh ... oot!

Mike reisst gerade das alte Dach vom Bunkhaus ab (in dem Nick und ich wohnen). Fuer ein paar Tage darf es jetzt tatsaechlich nicht regnen, bis das neue Dach drauf ist. Leider haben wir nun seit mehr als einem Monat keinen Tropfen Regen mehr gesehen.

Mike is just taking the old roof off the bunkhouse (where Nick and I live). Hopefully it won't rain for a few days till the new roof is on. Not much danger there. Unfortunately, we haven't seen a drop of rain for more than a month.

Alle Pferde sind wieder fit ... ausser Frost, der ganz boese geschlagen wurde und nur auf drei Beinen durch die Gegend huepft. Wir hoffen, dass es nur eine Prellung und kein Knochen gebrochen ist.

All the horses are back to normal ... except Frost who got kicked severely and can only hop on three legs. We hope that it's just a bad bruise and no broken bone.

Thomas und Sabine (Gruss an Walter!) sind fleissig am Fotografieren ... ich hoffe, dass ich morgen die Bilder vom Branding, dem Rodeo in Rapid City, dem Ritt nach Hulett und der Pferdeauktion in Belle Fourche bekomme ;-) Nein, wir haben keine neuen Pferde gekauft, aber ich war sehr versucht. Wir haben allerdings schon 38 (Patch und Scotch sind ja jetzt bei Brandy), und die fressen viel Gras und Heu.

Thomas and Sabine (Greetings to Walter!) are taking lots of photos ... I hope to get some pics of the branding, the rodeo in Rapid City, the ride to Hulett and the horse auction in Belle Fourche tomorrow ;-) No, we did not buy any more horses even though I was very tempted. We already have 38 (Patch and Scotch are with Brandy) and they eat a lot of grass and hay.

Ebenfalls neu dabei sind Frank und Susann. Wiederholungstaeter sind Sonja und Ryan. Dafuer mussten Marie und Sanny gehen ... wir vermissen Euch! Heute ein paar Tierbilder, von denen ich persoenlich nie genug haben kann. Die Temperaturen sind leider wieder gestiegen. Und wir koennen uns mittlerweile nicht mehr daran erinnern, wann der letzte Tropfen Regen fiel.

Also new here are Susann and Frank. Sonja and Ryan are repeaters. And Marie and Sanny had to leave ... we miss you! Today a few animal pics which I personally can never get enough of. The temperatures have risen again. And we cannot remember anymore when the last drop of rain fell.
